EMC Reveals New Look

While we took a hiatus from EMC’s annual conference and festival program, we’ve been thinking deeply about the changed world we find ourselves living and working in, and the new ways we can support and connect with and elevate the many electronic music communities that we love.

We also needed this time to also reflect on the ways that EMC has evolved as an organisation. EMC started as an annual 2-day conference in 2012, and since then has grown and changed into much more than that annual flagship event.

Over the past twelve years, as well as our annual conference and festival program, we’ve hosted pop up events in cultural institutions, school holiday workshops, electronic music workshops for children living with disability, international exchange programs, built a VR club, run fundraising initiatives to support clubs during the lockdowns and consistently advocated to government to help them to better understand and support electronic music, its businesses and communities.

Following the last edition of our conference, we had a choice to make: either continue to be a mouse on the wheel, and deliver our annual event in the same way that we always have, or apply the things that we’ve learned through our own experiences and through listening to others during this time.

We’ve very happy we chose the latter. This period has enabled us to work in new ways, and develop new partnerships, events and initiatives. In summary, the world has changed, and so has EMC. More than a conference, EMC is also about collaboration, creativity, connection, and celebrating electronic music culture and community in APAC and beyond.

From today, we’ll be giving you many ways that you can connect with like-minded people and communities. These might be smaller events with a specific focus, or larger events that bring multiple businesses and communities together. And yes–we’ll be bringing back our annual flagship event, with more exciting news to come about that.

Despite the challenges of yesterday and those that remain today, we’re proud of what we’ve achieved in the past and we’re excited about the future. Today we reveal a new look for EMC and announce the first of many events centred on the culture and community of electronic music.
