EMC Launches Toolkits for Electronic Music Creatives
EMC has announced the launch of its new Digital Toolkit Series, starting with “Foundations for DIY Creatives” – a comprehensive resource designed to support emerging electronic music artists, producers and professionals.
The initiative represents EMC’s commitment to creating a more accessible landscape for electronic music creatives through free resources that address key industry challenges. Developed in collaboration with OPN., the new toolkit series will equip artists and creatives with practical knowledge and tools needed to plan and navigate their growth journeys.
We’re witnessing a fundamental shift in how creatives develop their careers, with more creatives choosing DIY paths over traditional development models,” said Jane Slingo, Director of EMC. “These toolkits provide targeted support at critical early stages. In today’s fragmented music landscape, nurturing the talent pipeline with practical resources is essential for helping artists develop their craft, build sustainable businesses, and grow their community. By supporting DIY creatives, we’re investing in the future of electronic music business and culture.”
At the core of the first toolkit is the Creative Development Canvas—a practical tool that enables creatives to map out goals, track progress, and strategically shape their creative path in a structured way.

Drawing insights from experienced creators like Jamz Supernova from EMC’s podcast EMCAST and Elijah from his Yellow Squares Live talks last year presented by EMC, Toolkit #1 covers six essential areas for creative development:
- Define Your Identity: Trust the Process
- Self-Sufficiency: Take Charge
- Build Community: Connect and Grow
- Goal Setting: Focus & Adapt
- Embrace Feedback: Learn and Refine
- Financial Focus: Build Gradually
The toolkits are designed as early-stage resources to help newcomers balance creative vision with financial sustainability while creating meaningful community and peer connections. By supporting creativity and increasing access to resources, EMC aims to enable artists, emerging professionals, and other creative workers to thrive and contribute meaningfully on both local and global scales.
The “Foundations for DIY Creatives” toolkit is available for free now . Additional toolkits in the series will be released throughout 2025.
EMC’s Toolkits are supported by the Australian government through Music Australia and the NSW Government through Sound NSW.
