EMC announces appointment of Community Team

EMC announces the appointment of two new team members leading community development and engagement nationally and across the APAC region.

Shivani Sharma joins EMC as Community Engagement Manager, engaging with electronic music communities to enable EMC to be responsive to their needs and provide benefits through EMC’s programs

Shivani has been the force of Resident Advisor’s growth and dynamic Eora presence, infusing the local scene with her boundless energy and collaborative spirit. She is also an Artist Manager, approaching her management work through career guidance while nurturing a collective ethos where everyone thrives

EMC Director Jane Slingo said of Shivani’s appointment: “We’ve long admired Shiv’s care for the scene and authentic connection to its many important communities in NSW and around the country. Having the combo of Shiv’s bright mind and big heart on our team is perfectly aligned with EMC’s purpose and values. We’re so excited to work with Shiv.”

Ricky Tana (Richard Quintana) joins EMC as Community Development Manager, leading engagement strategies and developing digital resources to enhance participation in EMC’s projects. His role aims to increase accessibility for regional, remote, and disability communities, ensuring culturally relevant resources for both event attendees and non-attendees.

Ricky is an accomplished community builder with extensive experience in arts programming, event production, and collaborative initiatives. As the Founding Director of opn., an R&D organisation specialising in community-led programs for the arts and local institutions, Ricky has been instrumental in fostering the growth of Western Sydney’s creative scene. His approach centres on facilitating collaborative exchange between local communities & institutional outcomes, with a strong focus on resourcing emerging creatives.

EMC Director Jane Slingo said of Ricky’s appointment: “We connected with Ricky back in 2019, when he was a guest speaker at EMC’s conference. Before then and ever since, we’ve been impressed by his community work that has touch points across so many creative fields that intersect with music culture. Ricky has an exceptional brain that he applies to community leadership, and we’re over the moon that he’s joined our team.

Shivani and Ricky will work from EMC’s office on Gadigal Country (Sydney). Shivani will represent EMC at ADE, Amsterdam from October 16 – 20 where she’ll facilitate Stewardship in the Global Club Culture Expansion: Navigating Growth, Legacy, and Local Identity, presented by EMC and Mixmag Asia as a part of Echoes of the Underground on the ADE conference program.
